It's the Last Weekend of the 22-23 School Year!
GLPS Families,
Heading into the last weekend of the 2022-2023 school year, this is a great time to reflect and also to think ahead to next year. To those ends, I am going to ask you for some feedback today, and I also have a couple of updates.
-
Please take a moment to complete this brief feedback survey. The results will help me form my communication plan for next year, and help me get a sense of how we are doing in our various strategic plan focus areas. The survey will stay open until next Friday.

I wanted to give you an update on our inclusive logo contest that we discussed at the beginning of May. We had 14 outstanding entries. After discussing it with our leadership teams within the district, we decided that rather than voting on one logo, we are going to combine all 14 of them onto a single poster that we will hang in each building! Early next week, we will unveil the designs and ask students and families to vote on their preference.

We know that the weather has created some issues in the district over the last couple of weeks. Whether it has been warm classrooms or poor air quality, our teams have been actively monitoring the situation. When it comes to warm classrooms, our operations team has been spending their days troubleshooting and fixing issues as they arise. Fortunately, the high school’s heating and cooling system is the next bond project we will be completing, once Wacousta gets rolling. As for air quality, we recently received a state grant for air purifiers, so rooms across the districts have machines installed that remove particles from the air. We have also monitored recesses and field days closely, doing our best to ensure that students are spending appropriate amounts of time outside while offering alternative recess options for students who may need them.

GLPS Summer Learning class placements will be shared soon through PowerSchool. As was mentioned in other communications, students were placed on a first come, first served basis, based on space and staff availability. If you have questions about your child’s schedule, please reach out to program administrator Tricia Brentar (brentart@glcomets.net).
As we head into the last week of school for the year, please take time to enjoy the festivities as we gear up for summer vacation. A special congrats goes out to the class of 2023, who will be walking across the stage at the Breslin Center for the GLHS graduation ceremony. This is a fun, and busy, time of year!
Thank you again for all of your support; have a wonderful weekend, and as always, I am #proudtobeacomet!
