GLPS Families,

Since tomorrow is the first official day of spring break, I am sending my family message a day early this week. My last few messages have been around our school improvement goals, and we still have a few more focus areas to cover, but I am going to pause that sequence this week to highlight an event I was fortunate to attend last evening.

Delta Township held a State of the Township session, and both the Waverly Superintendent and I were invited to participate (please note that a video of the event will be posted soon). I very much appreciated the invitation, as Delta Township is a huge part of Comet Country. Our two largest elementary schools by student count, Willow Ridge and Delta Center, as well as Delta Mills Early Childhood Center, Hayes Intermediate, and our operations building, are all located in Delta Township, and much of the growth in the district’s population is happening there. People often associate Grand Ledge Public Schools with the city of Grand Ledge, but events like these are a reminder that we are a part of many communities, from Sunfield to Eagle to Wacousta to Delta Township and all of the places in between.

For my update today, I wanted to share the slides I presented last evening, as they represent a nice snapshot of the current state of our school district. I discussed our demographics, staff, enrollment, achievement, upcoming projects, and construction, and all of that is captured in these slides. Collectively, this information indicates that GLPS continues to be a leader in our region, and that we are working hard to plan future opportunities for our students and our community. Please take a look, and pause to celebrate the growth that is happening in our incredible district.

I am proud to share our district’s progress with a broader audience, and I am so thankful that we get to serve all of the communities that make up our district. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with you and your children every day. I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing spring break, and I look forward to getting back to work when we return in April. As always, I am #proudtobeacomet!
