GLPS Families,

As we wrap up another week at GLPS, I wanted to take this opportunity to share some bond updates with you, as I have not done so in a while. But first, I want to offer a special congratulations to our varsity pompon squad; at the 2024 Michigan Pom Association (MPA) Championships at Saginaw Valley on February 4th, they won the class A state title! State championships are the result of hard work and dedication, and it is always great when GLPS teams are the best in the state!

Regarding the bond, we are currently in the process of working through our next phase, which includes upgrades to Willow Ridge, Hayes, Neff, and the High School. Willow Ridge will be getting new classroom spaces and a secure entrance, while Hayes is getting some internal remodeling to create more useable space, along with their own secure entrance. We are also exploring options to improve traffic flow in both locations. Neff is getting HVAC upgrades and roof replacement, while the high school is getting a new secure entrance, along with much needed roof and HVAC upgrades as well. All of those projects are somewhere in the design to implementation phase. You will begin seeing work on the high school and Neff this spring, while the Willow Ridge and Hayes construction will start to take shape in the fall.

The other project that is still ongoing is the building of the new Wacousta Elementary School. At this time, we are still on track to begin school this fall in our new building, and we are beginning to implement our plans for the move over the summer. It is incredible to see the progress being made on the interior of the building. To view pictures of the new building and the construction process that is taking place, please click here.

We are fortunate to have such outstanding support from our community as we work to ensure that our facilities are the best in the area. From our building remodels to our new spaces, and from programming opportunities to grade level configurations, the 2018 bond has reshaped our district and allowed us to live up to our mission of growing learners and preparing students and our vision of providing every student a high-quality education, critical thinking skills, and social development to reach their highest potential in a safe and inclusive environment. As always, thank you for your support and for giving us the opportunity to work with your students every day. I am #proudtobeacomet!
