Dear Hayes Intermediate School Families,
Here is some news to get us into the weekend…
Cross Country Running - 6th Grade ONLY
Calling all 6th graders!! Are you interested in joining an awesome team? Do you love being outside? Do you enjoy running? How about having a positive attitude and a growth mindset? If that sounds like you, then consider joining the Cross Country team! The team meets daily at Beagle Middle School and practice begins at 3:00. You must have a current physical (dated on or after April 15, 2023) and be registered through grandledgecomets.orgby Friday, September 22, 2023 to be eligible to join. Early Carline
We continue to monitor and refine carline processes to ensure safety and efficiency during the morning drop off and afternoon pickup. While true relief is still a couple years away with anticipated bond-funded parking lot and driveway upgrades, we are attempting some interim steps. One of those steps is “Early Carline.” On days when we anticipate traffic backups due to inclement weather or a bus route cancellation, we plan to open the doors early at 7:15 AM to stem some of the extreme backups. The normal entry time will continue to be 7:20 AM. Please keep students in vehicles until 7:20 AM unless the doors are open or staff are present to supervise students.
School Start Time
Students should be in class by 7:40 AM. Most days the carline is clear by 7:35 AM. This gives ample time for students to be in class. Please make every effort to get students here so they are not missing morning routines and breakfast.

In the past 24 hours, many families answered our call to action, sending donation requests to friends & family around the world! Thank you for your support! We still need your help raising funds for learning tools, technology, celebrations, and classroom supplies, along with staff and student appreciation events.

If you did not have a chance to register, please click on the link above to set up your child’s personal donation page and invite friends and family by email or text message to join in our efforts. If you wish, you can also donate once you have registered your student. This entire process can be completed in 10 minutes or less!
When you enter 10 or more email addresses or cell phone numbers of your friends and family via your personal donation page, your child will earn Golden Ticket Prizes tomorrow! Please make sure you complete this process by midnight tonight to qualify for prizes.

Homecoming Spirit Week
To celebrate Homecoming in Grand Ledge, Hayes Intermediate will have Spirit Week the week of September 18-22. Here are the days:
- Monday - Hayes Shirt and Hat Day
- Tuesday - Pattern Day: Tie Dye, Stripes, Plaid, Checker, etc
- Wednesday - Favorite Day: Favorite Color, Favorite Team, Sport/Activity, College, Hobby, etc
- Thursday - PJ Day
- Friday - GL Gear Day
Online Attendance Reporting
There are several ways to report an absence at Hayes. The new, simple way is using the online portal at ps.glcomets.net. Once you have logged in, select “Attendance Monitor” from the left navigation menu. Then, click “Report New Attendance.” After you have entered the date, reason, and explanation, click Submit. For more detailed instructions, please click here. Also, you may continue to email HAAttendance@glcomets.net or call the attendance line at 517-925-5333. Please note: online attendance reporting is not available in the app; it is only available on the website.
