Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be:
- Monday, November 6 from 4:00-7:00 PM
- Wednesday, November 8 from 4:00-7:00 PM
- Friday, November 10 from 12:00-3:00 PM

Fall Harvest Celebrations
Our classroom Fall Harvest Celebrations will be held on Friday, October 27. Teachers will be coordinating activities and snacks for students in their classes. Please look for communication in the near future from your child’s teacher for the specifics. The celebrations will not include costumes.
Advisory on Phones Outside of School
While we discussed a similar topic to this last week, late this week we received more reports of students having inappropriate contact with one another on SnapChat and via text message. Students at this age are not ready to handle the responsibility that comes with social media, which is one of the reasons most social media sites require members to be 13 years old. If your student has a phone, we highly recommend a central phone storage spot for students to leave their phones in the evening when they go to bed. Once students see alarming things, they cannot unsee them. Once a student receives a text or message from a peer, they feel compelled to respond. Sometimes, students feel that they can solve a dispute over SnapChat or text. As school leaders for many years, we can confidently say that their disputes will only get worse if they attempt to settle them online. For the safety of all, if you allow your child to have a cell phone, please consider setting parental controls and carefully monitor their use.
Online Attendance Reporting
There are several ways to report an absence at Hayes. The fastest way is using the online portal at ps.glcomets.net. Once you have logged in, select “Attendance Monitor” from the left navigation menu. Then, click “Report New Attendance.” After you have entered the date, reason, and explanation, click Submit. For more detailed instructions, please click here. Also, you may continue to email HAAttendance@glcomets.net or call the attendance line at 517-925-5333. Please note: online attendance reporting is not available in the app; it is only available on the website.
