Dear Hayes Intermediate Families,
Here is some news to get us into the weekend…
Classroom Incident
Today we had a substitute working in one of our classrooms, and students in that classroom were concerned with the substitute’s behavior. They reported to the office that the individual was yelling and telling students to shut up, and I went to check on things and address the situation. The substitute, who is not a Grand Ledge Public Schools employee, but contracted through our substitute system, was removed from our classrooms as we investigated. Your child may be aware of this situation, so we wanted to let you know that we have high expectations for anyone working with our students, and we take reports of any misconduct very seriously. As we finish our investigation, if we learn more, we will deal with the situation appropriately.
Families NOT Returning to GLPS Next Year:

Do You Have a Change of Address?
If you have moved please contact our office at 517-925-5740 to update your address. We require proof of residency (1 of the following: Tax Bill (the taxes you pay on your home twice a year) or Two of the following: Utility Bill (water, trash, gas, electric), Mortgage/Lease (with your name, the address, and the signature pages sign by both the lessee and lessor), Voided Check from your bank, Cable Internet Bill, or Home or renters insurance paperwork (with your name and the address you live). You can email these to quagliatap@glcomets.net.
END OF YEAR MEDICATION PICKUP!!!
If your student currently has medication @ Hayes Intermediate School:
The deadline for medication pickup on June 14th, 2024 is 10:50am.
June 17th we will be available from 7am - 2pm. After this deadline, all medication will be disposed of. If your child will need medications at school for the 2024/25 school year, you can get that paperwork then as well. That will give you time to get all required Physician signatures by the start of the school year.
If your student is attending summer learning, please contact your building's office to make arrangements to leave your medication for summer learning.
Please be aware that students ARE NOT allowed to transport medication home on the bus.

Hayes Chromebook Crew - Parent Volunteers Needed
We are looking for parent volunteers to help with the end of the year Chromebook Crew at Hayes to inspect devices and prep them to be ready for next year! No tech experience necessary!
Available dates are June 5, 6, 7 from 7:30-11:30 am (Additional backup dates June 10, 11, & 12)

How is Your Student Getting Home? Let us know by 2:00 PM
If your student is getting home a different way than normal please call the office by 2:00 pm to let the secretaries know of the change. After 2pm we cannot guarantee that the message will get to your student.
Kona Ice
Kona Ice will be at Hayes on Friday June 13th! If students would like to purchase a Kona Ice they can bring cash to school that day and purchase one during their lunch period! Prices are $4, $5, $6, and for $7 you can get a color-changing cup. Proceeds go to support our awesome PTO.
