Dear Hayes Intermediate Families,

Here is some news and information to get us into the long weekend….

Afternoon Carline Relief

Beginning after Presidents Day on Tuesday, February 20, we will pilot a carline option only for Band families in the afternoon.  We believe this option will help improve safety and make pickup more efficient for everyone.  Band families will have the option to pick up their students behind Hayes since many of them already head to the Band room in the back of the school to get their instruments at the end of the day.  Again, this pickup in the back is only for Band families right now, so everyone else should continue pickup normally – this will result in fewer vehicles in front since many will be using the new option.  We will pilot this option for a month.  If it is successful, we may keep it as is or expand it to another group of students. If it is unsuccessful, we will eliminate it.  Thanks for continuing to make safety a priority during drop-off and pickup.

Math Night at Hayes Intermediate

Join us Wednesday February 21 from 6:00-7:30 pm for Math Night at Hayes Intermediate. Families will be able to attend 3 different sessions about varying math topics. Families are also welcome to enjoy pizza for dinner. We are asking for RSVPs to help us plan and organize the event. Please RSVP here: https://forms.gle/Fxofn1wJfkGfCEpDA  We will see you there!

All School Read Begins February 23, sponsored by our PTO

Our whole school is about to take part in a special, community-wide shared reading event.

Every family will receive a free copy of the same book  – When Stars Are Scattered by Victoria Jamieson and Omar Mohamed – and will be asked to read it together at home in February and March. We are asking you to set aside time so that your family can participate in this special activity, beginning February 23rd.

Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run begins February 26th and lasts for 10 weeks. It meets Mondays and Thursdays from 2:30-4:00 PM. Coaches will be Shannon Bauer, Julie Kushman, Zykia Davis, and Karlee Fillmore. Interested students should pick up a flier in the main office.

International Day

We invite you to join us for International Day this year on April 13 from 2-6 at Beagle Middle School. International Day is a day to celebrate our cultural diversity and to learn from each other!  There are many different ways to participate in this special day. You may simply attend and enjoy watching performances, looking at displays or admiring clothing. Or, you may wish to create a display, perform or be a part of the fashion show (please sign up using the provided forms). We look forward to seeing you and your family!

PTO Board Needs Members

The Hayes-Beagle Parent Teacher Organization has worked hard to provide opportunities for students and staff over the past 3 years that would not have been available without a PTO. Several PTO Board members will be leaving the PTO as their students age into High School. The commitment is as little as an hour a month for the meeting and you can help with fun jobs such as buying treats for students and staff. You can also help plan the dances and other activities that your student will participate in! Without a board, the PTO is legitimately in danger of ceasing to exist. Please come to the next meeting on March 19th at the Beagle Middle School Media Center at 6:30 PM to find out more. You can also join via Zoom - https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82744686994

Talent Show

Attention 6th grade Students! Do you have a special talent that you would like to showcase? Hayes Intermediate will be offering an opportunity for students to audition and perform at the 2nd Annual Talent Show on March 20th. Homeroom teachers have a survey link for interested students to complete. Auditions will be held the week of February 26th.

Hayes Happenings

Hayes Happenings is our weekly news show that is student directed, produced, and edited under the guidance of teachers Jacque Cosgrove and Allison Shumate. Each Monday, the class analyzes and critiques the episode from the previous week as they improve over the course of the trimester.
