Dear Beagle Middle School Families,
Here are some updates that we wanted to share at this time:
Rising 9th Grade Scheduling: On Monday next week, Grand Ledge High School staff will be meeting with all of our current 8th graders regarding course selection (core and elective requests) for next year; 8th grade Science teachers will support students entering requests into PowerSchool before spring break. Communications will be sent by GLHS administration to our current 8th grade families at this time and throughout the spring regarding upcoming events like orientation for rising freshmen.
Rising 8th Grade Scheduling: As noted in the very last section, our current 7th graders rising into 8th grade next year will engage in the Elective Roadshow here at Beagle on March 12th during Science classes. During this time, they will receive an organizer to fill out with family support, and they will enter their elective course requests for next year into PowerSchool with the support of their Science teachers a few days after. The goal is to have ALL requests entered into PowerSchool before Spring Break.
Parent/Teacher Conferences Continue Next Week: Next week, our in-person parent/teacher conferences will continue on March 4th and 6th from 4-7pm. If you would like to attend, you can still sign up using the link provided by Mrs. Palette: https://ptcfast.com/schools/Beagle_Middle_School_2
If you have any questions about conferences or issues with sign up, please contact Mrs. Pelette directly at pelettel@glcomets.net.
Tennis for Middle School Girls And Boys: GLPS Community Recreations is doing a doubles tennis league for 6th-8th grade girls and boys – 2025_ms_tennis_flyer.pdf – beginners welcome, no experience required! Practices Mondays & Wednesdays; matches on Saturdays. If you have any questions, please contact Jen Daly directly at dalyj@glcomets.net.
Middle School Track: More information to come soon from Mr. Price. Typically, voluntary practice begins just before Spring Break, and then season starts right after break.
Upcoming LCC Trip for 8th Graders: On Friday, March 14 our 8th graders will be visiting Lansing Community College West Campus to participate in their RESA program offerings. Students signed-up for their areas of interest in their Social Studies classes a couple of weeks ago. Students will leave at 9am and return around 11:30am and every 8th grader will take 2nd lunch. If your child arrives past 9am, they will not be able to attend the trip.
National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) STEM Camp at Grand Ledge High School: High school students from the NTHS team will be hosting a free STEM camp for our middle school students on March 11th, 12th, and 13th from 3-4pm each day! Students will have an opportunity to participate in a variety of STEM-focused activities, learning about different applications of Science, Technology, Design, and Engineering. Students will also be exposed to SolidWorks software. This is an outstanding opportunity for our students, and we thank GLHS and the NTHS team for hosting the event. Students interested in attending must email the NTHS team at glhsnths@glcomets.net in advance and bring a signed permission slip the first evening of the event. Both the permission slip and flyer are attached: NTHS Flyer.pdf NTHS Permission Slip.pdf
