Dear Beagle Middle School Families,
Here are some updates we wanted to share with you at this time:
Family Feedback Results: We thank our families for responding to the survey sent out in our most recent newsletters. We take this feedback from our families seriously, and we attempt to grow and improve using this feedback in multiple ways. Of the 60 responses, 100% of respondents feel that our communications are clear, concise, and timely; 95% of respondents felt that the communication was also just the right amount of communication. 85% of respondents felt that their student is currently having a positive or extremely positive experience here at Beagle thus far, and 85% of respondents also felt that their student felt strongly connected to at least one adult in the building. In addition, respondents provided both affirming and suggestive feedback in the suggestions section that our leadership team and staff have reviewed recently in an effort to help us continue to grow. Again, we thank our families for taking the time to provide us feedback, and will be sending more surveys in the future.
PBIS Store Success: Our PBIS Store was a huge success on Friday last week. Our students will be able to turn in their Comet PRIDE tickets–earned for showing positive behaviors–next week on Friday during both lunches. Each prize costs 10 tickets.
Wrestling Parent Meeting: There will be an informational parent meeting for parents of students interested in wrestling this season with Coach Cohoon on Monday, December 18th at 7 pm here in the Beagle cafeteria. Coach Cohoon will also be speaking with interested wrestlers on Thursday, December 14th during CNC in our cafeteria.
Girls Basketball Tryouts: Girls’ basketball tryouts begin Monday, January 8th, 7th grade is from 3-5pm and 8th grade is from 5:00-7:30 pm. Tryouts will run from Monday through Thursday of that week. Please ensure your child has a physical on file in order to try out. Physicals may be turned into the front office.
Arting Around Event, December 20th: Join Mrs. Fred for a fun art experience as we create gingerbread house paintings. A hot cocoa bar will be provided as well as some festive treats. The cost is $25 per pair. All proceeds will go toward the Beagle Middle School Art Department. The event will take place on Wednesday, December 20 from 5:30 - 7 pm by reservation only. Students must bring an adult to this event & the adult is expected to stay and participate in the fun. Please arrive on time as the arting around will begin directly at 5:30pm. There is only room for 12 pairs - first come, first serve basis. Email Mrs. Fred at frederickse@glcomets.net to reserve a spot. She will confirm your reservation with an email response.

Quizbowl Team Success: The Beagle Quizbowl teams finished competing in the 6 week Tri-County Fall League and Beagle B placed second. Brayden Schlichter placed in the top ten for individual competitors, and Noah Heriford was recognized as the top individual competitor, answering the most questions. Outdoor Recess: We have been informing students that we intend to continue to take them outside regularly–conditions permitting– for outdoor recess through the winter. We have been encouraging students to continue to dress for the conditions, and students know they may access their locker before and after lunch to obtain their coat, gloves, hat, etc. During inclement weather or colder days, we will have recess in the gymnasium.
Lost and Found: The lost and found–located in the main East-West hallway across from the cafeteria– is continuing to pile up. Please have your child check the lost and found if they are missing anything.
Musical Theatre Workshop - Modeled after the world-famous Young Americans’ workshop, this event offers students in 3rd-8th grade students a chance to meet, rehearse, and perform with Grand Ledge High School musical theatre students. Workshop participants will learn fun musical pieces complete with choreography, have a chance to take part in real auditions, and immerse themselves in a special workshop of their choice. PTO Meetings: The Hayes/Beagle PTO meetings will be hosted here at Beagle Middle School in our media center. Parents should enter through the cafeteria doors as they are open for athletic events. The media center is located in the first hallway to the left once in the cafeteria. Meetings are held from 6:30-7:30 pm. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, December 12th. We greatly appreciate parent support and participation at these meetings. In addition, please follow the Hayes & Beagle PTO Facebook page for more information and updates regarding upcoming events.

Looking Ahead:
- December 22-January 5th: Holiday Break, classes resume January 8th
- Winter NWEA Testing: Wednesday, January 17th (Math); Thursday, January 25th (ELA). We will follow the same process in the fall (altered day schedule). More information to come in subsequent newsletters.
