From Our Principal
A big thank you to Brooke Ward for her creative and fun efforts to build school spirit this week! The staff enjoyed an 'underground' spirit week that had everyone laughing and brought a strong sense of unity throughout the building. The themes were a hit, and it took until Thursday for the students to start catching on! Here’s a recap:
Monday: Monochrome Monday
Tuesday: Drink out of anything but a cup
Wednesday: Watter’s Wednesday – dress like your favorite PE teacher
Thursday: Dress like your favorite holiday
Friday: Dress like a student
Thanks to everyone who participated—it was a fun and memorable week for all!
If you haven’t yet, please sign up for your child's conference. Just a friendly reminder that we provide only one conference per child during conferences. If the parents of a student are not together, please take it upon yourselves to coordinate an amicable time for conferences. Any doubling of conferences on the online sign-up will result in one of the appointments being canceled to make room for other parents. Thank you for your cooperation. Parent/Teacher Conferences
Honoring Our Veterans
This month, we honor and thank our veterans for their service, sacrifice, and dedication to our country. In recognition of Veterans Day, we encourage families to talk about the importance of this day and the ways veterans help protect our freedoms. Our school is grateful to all who have served, and we proudly join in honoring their contributions. Thank you, veterans!
As always, if you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

The Grand Ledge Shopping Tour is coming soon! They help our very own students in need. Staff members are assigned to one student to take shopping for clothes. When they return from shopping, the students have a few gifts to open. Please consider donating a new, unwrapped toy. This collection container is our lobby here at Delta Center. Feel free to stop by during school hours to donate or you can send in your donation with your student. Thank you for all you do!
Hello!
Book Fair Week is coming! I wanted to share important information with you regarding what student IN-SCHOOL shopping will look like. But first, take a look at the schedule for when the book fair is at our school:
Book Fair Week schedule:
Monday 11/18: CLASS PREVIEWS
Tuesday 11/19: CLASS PREVIEWS + Family Shopping Night during conferences 5pm-8pm
Wed. 11/20: Student In-School Shopping allowed
Thursday 11/21: Student In-School Shopping allowed + Family Shopping Night during conferences 5pm-8pm
Friday 11/22: HALF DAY TODAY. Student In-School Shopping until 11:00AM. Book Fair Closes at 11:00AM to reset the library.
Please Note:
It is the decision of your child’s teacher on whether their students will be released to shop the fair during school hours. It is never my intent to disrupt the flow of a teacher’s instructional time. Should your child’s teacher decide to not participate during IN-SCHOOL student shopping, please do not send money to school.
We have two Family Shopping Nights during parent teacher conferences that all families can attend with their children:Tues. 11/19 from 5pm-8pm in the library
Thurs. 11/21 from 5pm-8pm in the library
If your teacher will allow for IN-SCHOOL shopping on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday morning, please be sure to send in enough cash to cover 6% sales tax. I can send change home in plastic sandwich bags.
***Scholastic also has their cashless eWallet feature that you can set up at home and students
can shop during school hours with their eWallet. I see the eWallets on the cash register as a
form of payment.
ONLINE SHOPPING – is also an option!
You can place orders online orders Nov 15 – Nov 28. “Book-Only” orders over $25.00 ship free. All online orders ship-to-home.

Do you want to learn more about eWallets?

A note on pre-paid orders:
Scholastic does not offer this feature on the cash registers anymore. You can pre-pay for books that won’t get released until after the fair is over via the Delta Center’s Online Shopping Link.

Art News
It has been so exciting getting to greet and meet my favorite artists again (both old and new!)! Students have enjoyed starting out the year creating sketchbooks and playing games. Since then we have dived deep into several projects using tempera paints, watercolors, unique painting styles, crayons, markers, etc. We've learned about chameleons, fireflies, and hot air balloons; discovered artists like James Rizzi and Leonardo DaVinci, and even got a chance to paint on windows (well, not really...but kind of . See our FaceBook for pics!!!).
Coming soon to a home near you...
In September, students have been creating special works of art for our annual art based fundraiser with Original Works! What is Original Works? Original Works is a program that transforms your student's artwork into wonderful and unique keepsakes that your whole family will love!
The possibilities of items range from ornaments to notebooks, magnets to coffee cups, ceramic tiles and more! As we get closer to this amazing opportunity, be sure to stay tuned for more information to be released in the weeks to come!
Got recyclables?
The art room is always looking for materials to help facilitate our creative endeavours. While it is great to ask before dropping things off, I can tell you now that if you have any wire hangers or old CDs laying around, I will gladly take them off your hands! Want to know more ways to help? Feel free to check out our ongoing Amazon wishlist. Thank you so much to those who have already contributed!
Want to know more about what happens in the art room? Curious to see what projects are decorating our fabulous halls? Then be sure to join our Delta Center art room Facebook page: "Mrs. BellDean's DC ArtRoom", for updates and visions of creativity!
Sincerely,
Mrs. BellDean, Art Teacher
