What is the process for reporting a positive COVID-19 case to GLPS?

Until further notice, please make sure you are communicating all COVID-related illnesses, testing results, exposures, and all related issues to the GLPS Health Team

Please use the COVID-19 Reporting Form for students and staff who test positive.  In addition, please communicate accordingly with the appropriate building principal.

You can also contact the GLPS Health Team at (517) 925-5725 or Health@GLcomets.net.  

The GLPS Health Team will work with you, in confidence, and coordinate communication with the Barry-Eaton District Health Department (or another health department).

FREE COVID-19 Testing Kits

Grand Ledge Public Schools is participating in the MI Backpack Home Test Program, a voluntary program offered by MDHHS for Michigan K–12 students, educators, staff, and their families who want an extra layer of protection against COVID-19.

If you would like to request a FREE at-home COVID-19 rapid antigen testing kit, please complete this online form.  Once you submit the form, please contact your school office and make arrangements to obtain the test kit.  Delivery procedures may vary by building.

School Associated Cases

The MDHHS Emergency Order that required the reporting of school associated cases was rescinded March 11, 2022.  The tables that were maintained in the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years can be found below.

 

School Associated Cases for 2021-2022 School Year

In simplified language, a "school associated case" is a positive case of COVID-19 who was on school property.


This table includes all cases beginning July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2022.

This table is the reporting pursuant to MDHHS's Emergency Order Under MCL 333.2253 – Reporting of Confirmed and Probable Cases of COVID-19 at Schools.  The layout of this table was approved by Barry-Eaton District Health Department on January 21, 2022.  This layout provides a clear, concise notice of the positive cases of COVID-19 which were on school property.

The Barry-Eaton District Health Department defines "Active" as the person recorded as a case is still considered in the infectious period and "Closed" as the person recorded as a case is no longer considered in the infectious period. 

The MDHHS order states the following: “School Associated Case” means a case of probable or confirmed COVID-19 amongst students, teachers, staff members, coaches, volunteers, or any other person who was present on school property or at a school function under circumstances that may result in the transmission or contraction of COVID-19 during their infectious period.  The Barry-Eaton District Health Department defines a "confirmed" case as a person who has a positive diagnostic laboratory test for COVID-19 and a “probable” case as (1) a person who has a positive antigen test (i.e. rapid test) or (2) an epidemiologic link to a known case of COVID-19 AND has symptoms consistent with a COVID-19 diagnosis.
