M-STEP
Our 3rd and 4th grade students will move on to the Math portion of the M-STEP next week. We want your child’s state assessment experience to be as relaxed and stress-free as possible. Your positive outlook and supportive manner going into these assessments will influence your child’s experience. Schools rely on accurate test results to focus on students or programs that may need more academic support. Federal law requires a 95% participation rate. Additional information, including how you can help your child prepare for testing, is available on the M-STEP web page at www.mi.gov/mstep. If at all possible, we ask that you please avoid absences during this critical testing period.
Behaviors
Recently, we've noticed a slight uptick in negative behaviors among some of the children, and we believe it's important to address this issue openly and constructively. As partners in your child's development, we value your support in reinforcing the importance of following adult directions and rules. Negative behaviors can manifest for various reasons, ranging from testing boundaries to seeking attention or expressing underlying emotions; however, by working together, we can help guide our children toward positive behaviors and respectful interactions.
As we continue our journey of academic growth and personal development here at Delta Center, we ask that you please help reinforce the importance of following adult directions and treating all teachers and staff with respect. These fundamental principles not only contribute to a positive learning environment but also cultivate crucial life skills that serve our students well beyond the classroom.
Following Adult Directions
Following directions from adults is a cornerstone of a successful educational experience. When students adhere to instructions provided by teachers and staff, they demonstrate responsibility, discipline, and a willingness to learn.
Treating Teachers, Staff, and Peers with Respect
Our teachers and staff dedicate themselves to nurturing the minds and hearts of our students every day. We must emphasize the importance of treating them as well as their peers with kindness, appreciation, and respect.
How You Can Help
As parents and guardians, you play a pivotal role in reinforcing these principles at home. Please encourage your child to listen attentively to adults, follow instructions promptly, and demonstrate kindness and respect toward all members of our school community. By modeling these behaviors and engaging in open conversations about their significance, you empower your child to become a respectful and responsible individual who develops positive relationships with others.
At Delta Center, we strive to create a nurturing environment and cultivate a culture of mutual respect, collaboration, and excellence.
Thank you for your ongoing support in reinforcing these values at home and in our school community.
