My name is Breanna Cleeves and I am the Director of the Little Comets Preschool Programs.    Preschool is such an exciting, impressionable time in a child’s life.  It is a special time when children develop a love for learning.  I am always amazed at the developments that occur over the school year within each child.  Watching our students grow is a favorite part of my job! They are not only learning letters, numbers, and how to write, but are also developing positive attitudes toward independence, exploration, cooperation, motivation, and creativity.  I feel very fortunate to be working amongst a group of supportive, inspiring, early childhood professionals.  What an amazing team I have!

In 2008, I graduated from Spring Arbor University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.  I recently obtained my Master’s Degree in Instruction and Curriculum in Early Childhood Education from Grand Valley State University.  Prior to re-opening Holbrook, I enjoyed teaching preschool in Atlanta and in the Lansing area.  I also taught full-day Kindergarten for four years.  I am very excited about the growth and expansion of our Little Comets Preschool program at our new Delta Mills location!  When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, boating, shopping, and down-hill skiing.  I have a passion for interior design and enjoy decorating and re-decorating my home in Grand Ledge  My husband and I have two beautiful children who bring so much joy to our lives!

Hello, my name is Sara Larson and I am a Lead Preschool Teacher at Holbrook Early Childhood Center.  As a graduate of Grand Ledge Public Schools, I am proud to be a part of such an innovative and supportive school system.  I believe that all children have the right to learn and I am passionate about finding new ways to reach each child.  After graduating from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Language Arts, I worked as a Substitute Teacher in Grand Rapids Public Schools.  I have also worked as a childcare worker and an Instructional Parapro for special education students.  I am excited to be back in Grand Ledge and working at Holbrook, where the district shares my belief in the importance of educating the whole child by supporting the social, emotional, cognitive development of each student.  As a teacher and as a mother, I also believe in the importance of family involvement.  I hope all of our classroom family members feel like an important part of our learning community, and welcome you to participate in your child's early development.

Hi! My name is Jessica Cornman and I am thrilled to be part of the Little Comets Preschool teaching staff! I have been incredibly blessed to discover my passion for Early Childhood Education after a successful career in Communications and Graphic Design. My original Bachelor’s Degree is from Grand Valley State University (Go Lakers!) in Communications. After raising my own preschoolers into successful grade schoolers, I realized I belonged in a classroom and preferably with young children. I am currently taking classes at Central Michigan to complete my Early Childhood Education requirements. I truly believe in the magic and joy that is part of the preschool experience! These little minds are soaking in so much valuable information to carry them on through the rest of their lives, and if I can have a small part in launching them forward then I have lived my purpose. When I am not thinking about my class and planning creative activities, I live for my family; My husband, Tim, is a teacher and coach. My oldest son, Drew, is a freshman at GLHS, my middle son is Alex is a sixth grader, my daughter Addison is a third grader and I can’t forget my spoiled yorkie, Kai. We love watching sports, playing sports, taking walks in our neighborhood, doing crafts, baking and sometimes just lounging around all together. I am a crazy reader – I read every single day. I also love to knit and crochet. I feel so fortunate to be part of this amazing school!!

Hello, my name is Lindsey Fender and I am so pleased to be a member of the teaching staff within the Little Comets Preschool program!  I am a graduate of Grand Valley State University, where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, with a major in social studies.  I am currently working towards my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Grand Valley State University.  From 2011-2014 I was the lead preschool teacher for ages three to five at Haslett Child Development Center.  During the 2014-2015 school year I was a substitute teacher for pre-k through sixth grade right here in the Grand Ledge school district.  My husband and I have two children; a daughter, Piper, and a son, Liam.  I enjoy camping with my family in the summers and spending as much time with my children as possible.  Preschoolers make my work fun and I so enjoy getting to watch these little minds discover and learn everyday with such excitement!

Hello!  My name is Joy Marshall and I am the Lead Teacher for the Half-Day Preschool Program at Holbrook Early Childhood Center.  I hold a BA in Child Development and Elementary Education and an MA in Child Development with an emphasis on Curriculum - both from Michigan State University.  I recently retired from my elementary teaching position with Grand Ledge Public Schools where I taught Kindergarten for 6 years and 2nd Grade for 8 years.  I have also taught Head Start, State-Funded Preschool, and Kindergarten for Beecher Community Schools in Flint, MI.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, kayaking, and 'glamping' with my husband, Tim.  Our children, Marlaina and Lillian, are both grown and are off making their own lives.  Marlaina is a Packaging Engineer with Kimberly Clark and Lillian teaches Developmental Kindergarten for Charlotte Public Schools.

I knew I would continue teaching after retirement but I had no idea just how fortunate I would become.  I am so happy to have joined the Little Comets Program - nurturing and guiding children as they learn the very basics of learning!

Hello, my name is Taurie Davis and I am the lead teacher in the four-year-old preschool classroom.  I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a ZS endorsement for Early Childhood Education.  I love that I am able to put my education and experience to use within my classroom.  Prior to joining the Little Comets Preschool team, I spent two years as a Camp Counselor in Jackson and three years as an Art Coordinator at a summer camp in Ann Arbor.  I am very passionate about art and enjoy finding new ways to reach children with art projects.  In my free time, I like to color in coloring books and draw my own designs to color.  I also love to explore the world around me through reading and look forward to sharing this love with my students each school year.
